Stay at home OR work from home moms...how do you make it work income wise? This question is for work from home/stay at home moms only please... I am a mother of a beautiful 7 month old and I desperately want to stay at home with her and be a stay at home mommy. However my husband needs help with the bills income wise. I have been looking FOREVER for work from home jobs and I have found nothing. I have looked on craigslist, ratracerebellion, WAHM.com, MOMcorps.com...everywhere I can think of. I want to do something that is not commission based and something where I can stay home with my baby and still help my husband out. Home based business "Work at Home Untied": what is this job? I recently came across a work at home company called "Work at Home United". I heard it was associated with Melaleuca but that still does not help me to understand what you actually do if you work at home for this company. The website tells you all about what you DONT do, like sell anything, but doesn't give any information on what you DO do. Does anyone have any helpful information for me? New mom - stay at home or back to work? How can I make money & keep my sanity if I do decide to stay at home? I have a newborn baby boy at home. My husband and I are unsure of whether or not I should go back to work full time, part time, or stay at home. I am leaning towards staying home, as I do not want a nanny to raise my baby. If I do stay ay home though money will be very tight and I might also miss the adult interaction of work. Is it foolish for me to think that spending quality years with my son is more important than not having to worry about money??? I was originally thinking to be a commercial airlines pilot, but I just noticed I really want to be able to be at home with my wife and kids (when I get them =P). Work at Home Moms!? I work part time for a criminal attorney. I love the work I do. In September, my babysitter quit (I have two children). I live an hour away from my closest family members, and I live in a big city, and I really don't trust anyone to watch my children. I have looked into daycare, but it costs per month exactly what I make per month, so I would basically be working to put my kids in daycare. My boss and I worked out a system where I can work from home most days of the week, and come into the office three mornings. My husband also worked out with his boss some mornings that he could have the baby at work while our oldest is in school. It worked out pretty well, until now. My boss has wanted me to pick up extra responsibilities. Since I am not in the office as much, there is less time to do the stuff that can only be done at the office. And when I am there, I usually have emergencies to take care of, so it takes a while to get tedious stuff done. Now with all of the extra stuff, things are getting more and more behind. On top of this, my baby has a vision condition that we are going to the doctor quite a bit for (meaning I miss work), and she has been sick for a long time with a cold and other things that require doctor visits (meaning I miss more work). When I am home, I am trying to work and take care of her, and things get even MORE behind. Anyway, here is the point of my story. How do you manage all of these stressors as a work at home mom? And is there a point where you really have to evaluate whether to be home with the kids exclusively or work in an office exclusively? This really wouldn't be an issue if I had a support network near me, but I moved away from my family and we can't just up and sell our house right now. Also, my husband is working two jobs to help us, so it is really hard to lose an entire income. Has anyone been through this before? If so, how did you handle it? For stay at home moms, what do your husbands do when they come home from work? I'm just wondering for those moms who stay at home with their kids, when your husbands/boyfriends come home from work, do they help out with the kids at all?? I know my husband works extremely hard to provide for his family, but should he not have to do anything at all when he comes home from work? Sometimes I'll ask him to give our daughter a bath and he says its my job to do that b/c he has worked all day. I don't make him do anything around the house except clean the shower b/c he is a mechanic and the shower can get really dirty due to his work so that is the only thing I ask of him. I'm just wondering if it is fair that just b/c he works outside the home, he shouldn't help out with the kids as far as bathing them, brushing teeth, putting them too bed, etc.

US: Work at Home but no Home Office Deduction? Hi - I'm considering taking a position at a company in Virginia. I would spend 2 days per week in Virginia and 3 days at home in NYC. I own a co-op in New York. I am pretty sure that I don't qualify for a home office deduction. My work is project mgmt. I would have an office at home (PC, printer, etc.) but I would not be receiving any clients there. Would there be any tax advantages to this arrangement? Stay at home and Moms who work outside the homes, can we settle our differences and find common ground? It seems like we have a lot of moms who feel the need to defend their choice to either work or to stay at home. Many of us do this for different reasons. Why can't we accept that neither situation is 100% the right thing in all circumstances instead of criticizing those who either are stay at home moms or work outside the home moms. If the typical stay-at-home mother in the United States were paid for her work as a housekeeper, cook and psychologist among other roles, she would earn $138,095 a year, according to research released on Wednesday. Legitimate work at home ideas for a stay at home mom? I have a 22 month old daughter that I stay home with. I am looking for legitimate ways to make money while staying at home. To stay at home with baby or work and use daycare? Should I stay home after the baby is born or work another year or so to pay off debt then stay home? Together we earn around $75k per year. We have alot of debt (mortgage $1450, credit cards, his car, utilities, etc) plus we don't spend our money very wisely and can't seem to stick to a budget. I'd like to stay home with the baby after it's born, but his employer doesn't offer health insurance, which would mean paying for a "private" health insurance plan for all of us. We got a quote for $1000 per month from Blue Cross for that. What are your thoughts stay home immediately or work to pay off debt and then quit? Please, if your going to be rude, just don't answer. Legit work at home jobs? I have been researching work at home employment for over 3 years now. I also just recently purchased a new computer and such to get a job working from home. I have signed up for work at home forums, Jetblue sites, WAH Employment sites (Which have been a great help) and check craigslist and applied to numerous legitament jobs, customer service etc, and right now Im waiting for a response. Im not really happy with google data entry or Ameriplan because I dont want to pay up front but is there anything else out there. I have been to many legit sites and so forth and want more resources. Im interested in virtual office work at home jobs because I have a background and experience as being a secretary. I also have schooling and entry level experiene in medical Billing/Coding and Transcription but these companies want at least 2-3 years of strong experience before you can apply to those jobs. Work at home no fees? I am looking for a work at home JOB. I do not want a business or do surveys or paid to click emails done them all and they dont work. I am looking for something I can do at home that does not require high speed internet. Im out in the sticks and dial up is all you can get out here. Working and stay at home moms? Why not compromise and think about part-time work? Don't understand all the fuss here. I consider myself a stay-at-home mom but I do work about five to ten hours a weeks depending on my work schedule. I think it is the best of both worlds. Yes, I understand single moms can't do it. Yes, I understand some people are so broke they can't (Although I question why did you not plan a little better- baring some extreme circumstances). I really question a two family income where the mom HAS to work full time. Are you telling me that you can't reduce to half-time? Reduce the cable, phone, get a cheaper house, cut down on expenditures... are you really living in such an extreme situation??? Can't stay home for at least a year? Basically how do you refute that all the literature states that for the best well being of a child the mom should be the primary care giver for the first three years of their life. People go into debt for vactions and to remodel their home why not go into debt so you can stay home at least part time with your child? I guess I wonder why more Mom's with an significant other don't work on a part time basis instead of full time (for at least a short time). Kids are young once. Do you really think a daycare will love and care for your child as well as you can? Will you some day look back and regret not spending more time with your children? Henry Violet obviously does a crappy daycare... I am interested b/c being raised by an army of babysitters (As I was) really, really sucked! Our plan is that as soon as the youngest is in school I will work pretty mcuh full time and the kids will be in aftercare for about 10-15 minutes a day. (Just because my husband may not be able to make it home in time everyday). So that would be less then one hour a week of aftercare. I currently work from home and hope to continue to do so (That's our first plan) Working a job from outside the home and using an hour of aftercare a week is the second plan. Why can familes live tight for just the first three years of a child's life? Why??? Why does the mom have to work full time? Again, single parents excluded. I have know people who worke din daycares- horrible. Now a family member helping out that's a different story. But of course, I think it would be nice it the mother is the primary caregiver. My opinion of course. Although it is backed with scientic literature. Sorry, demarkation_line. Look up it on Pubmed. Again try and find a child psychologist who says otherwise. And of course, duh, an abusive mom is not good - working or not. I think there is a lot of guilt from mom's who have a choice to stay at home at least part time but instead put their six week old babies in daycare. Lets see the live of a baby. Wake up, get dressed, eat, off to daycare, come home, eat, bath, some playtime (a short amount), then bed. When do they really get quality time with the family? On the weekends? I not saying don't work at all. I'm saying what about a compromise?? At least for a year or two? C'mon. You can't afford that? Or you choose not to?

Stay at home mom , legitimate on-line work , is there such a thing? I am a stay at home mom of a 2 and 4 yr old..... My husband is a sheriffs deputy and works very long hours but only makes 685$ every 2 wks.... :( they don't get paid overtime just days off, which they can never take bc theirasked to work.. Stay at home or return back to work? Hi i'm a First time mommy of a beutiful baby girl. I'm 33 yrs old when i had my daughter 2 half months ago. I have been at my job for 13 yrs it's a great paying job and great benefits considering i don't have a degree. My husband also has a great paying job but we would be taken a financial drop if i quit to stay at home to take care of my daighter. I have no family nearby or friends to watch my daughter they all work full time jobs or live far away. I looked into childcare witch would cost me $150.00 to $200.00 a week. I bring home $350.00 a week. I'm sure that there are some great day cares out there. Im responsible for anything that happens to my daughter i couldn't live with myself knowing something happened to her while i was at work. If i stay at home we wpould go on my husbands health insurance and we would be paying $300.00 a month. With my insurance we just paid the cost of co-pay which still adds up at the end the year. I trust that my husband will take care of us.

Work at home - need to register with CRA? I recently moved to Canada, doing work at home – Excel Based financial modeling. Orders are received from abroad (my home country) by e-mail. My total income is around 19,000 CAD, almost no deductible expenses. I am about to file a tax return for 2007. Question: Was I supposed register as Self Employed with CRA before I file, or do I just file Tax Return form for 2007 and state my business address as my home address? If I have to register and do it now, will I be subject to any fines, since I conducted a small business without notifying CRA in advance?

How to best store/play mp3s with home stereo quality? No home PC. I like to keep my laptop at work.? I have loads of mp3s that I listen to on my laptop computer and mp3 player. I do not have a home PC. In order to hear the mp3s at home I need to bring my laptop back and forth from work.
