Telecommuting Taxes? Hello. I currently live and work in Wisconsin. I have a desire to move to San Francisco, CA, and continue working for the same employer (again, who is based in Wisconsin) by "telecommuting" from my home/apartment office in San Francisco. My apartment in California will not be an "official" company office/branch - it will just be where I physically work. I've been given tentative approval from my employer, pending figuring out the conundrum of state taxation; specifically, which state will I pay my taxes to? One? The other? Both? Half-and-half? How is this determined? Thank you very much for any help you can offer.
How to write a telecommuting proposal? Hi, I just started working for a company who at fiurst thought would frown upon the iea of telecommuting. After a being there for two weeks I realized lots of people are telecommuting. Before working for them I had been telecommuting 100% fr a company in Florida. I want to do partial telecommuting. Meaning, come certain number of times per week or whenever there are meeting and conferences and then take work home. I am apprehensive about putting the request forward ot my supervisors right now. How would you recommend I put the telecommuting proposal forward in a way that will show it's not a win-win situation but rather that they will gain more out of it? I don't want my request to sound like I am asking it only for my own advantage. One more question: would it be a good idea to approach an HR person and ask what is the corporate policy on telecommuting? That way I can use that info to back up my request? Or do you think supervisor would be upset that I went ot HR people first before coming to her for request?

how does the telecommuting affect society? "Telecommuting"refers to workers doing their jobs from home for part of each week and communicating with their office using computer technology. Telecommuting as an option? And please don't say that not all jobs can be telecommuted .. we all know that! But more jobs can be than are today. It looks to me that supporting telecommuting is a Real way of supporting stay at home moms and dads. I mean for real it would be more free choice for both men and women. And career and family would not be so much an either/or thing. I think this is much better than the corporate hell rat race that so many people have to live in and be stressed out by. And much better than some lame trying to turn back the clock to the bad old days and pretend that economic reality and woman's choices are not real and important. Hey this is the 21st century and we have the Net. And Yes I do know that most corporations and governments are not high on doing this even if they say they are. That is something we can try to change. Workers who are more happy are better workers. It I was in business I would want that. So how can we help make this happen more? thanx Rio :) Actually I think the biggest issue is attitude..

Looking for a job as someone's telecommuting personal assistant.? I want to be a personal assistant. Keep in mind that this personal assistant position would be telecommuting, meaning through contact by email, text message, or phone. And as a personal assistant, I would be assisting one person, not a whole company. Here's how I see it: as a personal assistant, my duties would be the things that you don't have the time to do. Whether it would be calling your cell phone service to update your contract, or even sending your niece a birthday card. I would do online shopping for you, calling any of your services (like lawn care services), or sending messages through the mail. How I see it is that every morning you would send me an email telling me of all the duties that I need to have completed by the end of the day or week. I would get them completed, then email you back. I am only 16, but I have a 4.0 GPA and I'm very organized. I would like to develop a trusting and close relationship with my employer. If you are interested, please email me. Thanks.
I have full time telecommuting job. Is it legal to get another full time job? For this new job, I need to be in the office. But I think I can handle telecommuting job before/after work or during weekend. (I just need to get things done. When I work is not terribly important for telecommuting job.) Is this Legal? I am reading lots of posts that it is in yahoo answers page, but also saw someone saying it is not legal. I can't find legal documents that states it is legal or illegal. Am I required to tell my employers? They are in different industry and not competitor whatsoever. (no conflict of interest in that matter) I really want to know definite answer. I read people who have done it, but it looks like it is in different shift like 9am-5pm, 6pm-2am. In my case, it can overlap, in somewhat similar like a writer for wallstree journal (I am not writer) writing for another freelance job while he is in the office... Thanks in advance. I don't know how this will turn out, I might quit one job (most likely) in a few months IF I can't handle both Yes, It is legitimate full time position. I get salary and small year end bonus. I have not signed any kind of agreement other than standard employment agreement which didn't say anything about not having another job...
What is the future of telecommuting? I work as a programmer, and I heard of one person at work who is able to telecommute 4/5 days of the week. So I became curious about how telecommuting is perceived across all industries. I would love to get away from my claustrophobic cube. What kinds of jobs lend themselves to telecommuting? Any other jobs besides computer programming types? I'd love to migrate to web development. Are there ample telecommute job opportunities in web development?
Help me find a good telecommuting job? I had asked about internet jobs and found most if not all to be suspect. I have indeed found telecommuting to be the best for me, what I need is a website where I can apply for jobs without having to pay anything ever, regular jobs where I have to file taxes and get paid by check every week or two. I'm looking for jobs in writing, editing, or proofreading, I am good in all three.
Where are all the REAL telecommuting jobs? I have been looking for a real telecommuting job that isn't an MLM "bizopp" or a "pay to do data entry, but really recruit more suckers" thing. How can I get a government job that allows telecommuting? I would really like to work from home but enjoy the benefits of telecommuting with the government. Also, does anyone know of possible contracting positions with the federal government. I hear contractors tend to make more money than actual civil service.
With what type of degree can I easily find a good job working at home (telecommuting)? I am a student interested in finding a job working at home once I graduate with my current degree (BA Physics) or after I got a second degree. I was wondering if I got a masters in Computer Science for example how difficult would it be for me to find a job where I could telecommute. I am interested in finding a job/career, not starting a business at home and I am not looking for a low paying job (less than $40,000). Is there another field where it would be easier to find a job with these requirements? What type of degree or certifications are best suited for finding a position that allows extensive if not solely telecommuting?

Does Telecommuting give me any tax advantages? So I've looked and looked and can't seem to find anything about this. I've been working for a company over the past year. This company doesn't have an office so I do my work from home (telecoummuting). I'm full time with benefits and all, but I feel like there should be some things I can deduct from my taxes since I'm using all my own equipment, electricity and space. Does anyone know what tax advantages I can get? Thanks
Telecommuting? With the ever so fast rising of gas prices, I have been wondering how many ppl are trying to go this route? I work as a system administrator, currently doing this for 5 months now; I have 2 remote sites that I look after. I am seriously thinking of suggesting the idea of the telecommuting from home, as 95% of my work can be done remotely. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions of how to bring this topic of conv up to my boss, I have a conf call tomorrow (a weekly thing) I thought that this would be a great time, as we generally discuss any concerns/issues that I may have.
Where can I go for a telecommuting vacation? I have some work I really need to get done and I have trouble with the daily distractions of life. I want to go away somewhere for 2-4 weeks so I can focus. The perfect place would be somewhere kind of isolated and very green, maybe an ecolodge. I'd want there to be good food readily available. I also need a desk and a fast and reliable internet connection. It'd be nice if it wasn't hideously expensive, but I'm prepared to shell out whatever is necessary. I live outside Washington, DC. I like the idea of this place being within driving distance. But I could also get excited about somewhere I had to fly to if I was sure it would provide everything I need. Can anyone recommend someplace that fits this description?
How can I find a telecommuting job? I work in insurance and need to know where to look for telecommuting job. Anyone work for insurance companies that do telecommuting? Ideas of how to find positions?
Why aren't governments mandating employers to use telecommuting? I don't get it. Governments are concerned about the price of oil and the environment. Yet, they don't take advantage of the one solution that is front of their face. Require employers to have a certain percentage of jobs that offer at least partial telecommuting. This is the 21st century! North America has the infrastructure to allow many people to work from home. Many of our jobs do not require workers to be chained to a desk. Let the employers figure out ways to monitor employee productivity. This can be a quick long term fix.

How can i get a job as someone's telecommuting phone secretary? I remember reading an article a while back about a website that paid people to be a kind of secretary for their clients. Basically, that person's calls would be forwarded to you and you would make appointments, or answer questions or whatever else secretaries do. This sounds like an interesting job but i can't remember the name of the website that does this. I think i threw away the magazine that i read about this in too. does anyone know what i'm talking about?
