How to write a telecommuting proposal? Hi, I just started working for a company who at fiurst thought would frown upon the iea of telecommuting. After a being there for two weeks I realized lots of people are telecommuting. Before working for them I had been telecommuting 100% fr a company in Florida. I want to do partial telecommuting. Meaning, come certain number of times per week or whenever there are meeting and conferences and then take work home. I am apprehensive about putting the request forward ot my supervisors right now. How would you recommend I put the telecommuting proposal forward in a way that will show it's not a win-win situation but rather that they will gain more out of it? I don't want my request to sound like I am asking it only for my own advantage. One more question: would it be a good idea to approach an HR person and ask what is the corporate policy on telecommuting? That way I can use that info to back up my request? Do I have to with-hold CA state income tax? I am a resident of CA and have recently started work for a company based in NJ. I will continue to live in CA and spend part of the time in NJ and NY offices. After my initial training period I will spend more time at their international offices as well, and will be telecommuting from CA. The company has no offices in CA. The company is withholding NJ states taxes from my pay-check but not CA state taxes. I have two questions: 1. Do I have to withhold CA income tax from my pay-check? (I suspect I do); 2. And if I do, how do I go about it? I would of course prefer the company's HR dept to take care of the withholding rather than doing it myself on an estimated quarterly basis. But they seem to be at a loss as they haven't had a similar circumstance come up before. I don't want to be in a situation where I am penalized for under-withholding. Any guidance is most appreciated.

How do you counteract stress in your life? Hi! I am someone who has just taken about a 4 year rest from the real working world, and am now back to working in a higher stress job than I have had before. I love the job, there is just so much to learn, so many different directions to go in, and I am working from my home office and telecommuting, as well as meeting with clients in their places of business. My workload has skyrocketed over the past few weeks, and so has my blood pressure. Just some background. I have PTSD, and took the break from full time work due to my body just giving out from stress related illnesses coming out in seizures, panic attacks, and severe hormonal problems with my adrenal gland. Paying a person who lives and works in another country? A U.S. employer has hired someone who lives and will work in England. The company has no operations in England; they just really wanted this person to work with them, and the person happens to live in and be a citizen of England, and the company can allow him to work in England - that's some telecommuting! How should they go about paying him and how are taxes handled from the company's perspective?
