Freelance Writing? I have a few questions about freelance writing... (All questions assume the writer actually has talent and acceptable work): 1. Is it better to write an article and search for somewhere to have it published, or look for specific requests for topics and then write the article and hope it is accepted? 2. How many submissions does a typical freelance writer send out a month and how many normally get accepted? 3. How much does a freelance writer typically earn in a year (or per article)? 4. If you are one (or have been one), do you feel it is a waste of time or worth the effort? 5. Give me some examples (besides Associated Content---who frequently offers their writers $3 for time-consuming articles) of good companies/publications/sites to submit work. 6. What is the best book out there that lists places for writers to submit their works for payment? Thanks! By the way, I am the author of two published novels, and I know all too well, not much (if any) money can be made through writing and freelancing. I just wanted to get an estimate of what to expect.

Freelance writing? For as long as i can remember my dream job has been writing for a magazine. When i was pregnant i started writing feel good, anecdotal pieces about my experiences & never stopped (I now have 3 children, 1 who has a serious illness & am pregnant with my fourth) I have written about everything, every single aspect of day to day life. My friends & family love to read them & they get passed onto there friends & family too. I have written maybe one a fortnight for the past 7 years, so as you can imagine there is a lot!! What i would really love to do is have these pieces published, in a parenting magazine. I know the exact magazine i would love to see them in & I’m positive they fit the general 'feel' of the MAG. So how do i go about it? & how to i present my case in the best possible way, that won't get an immediate knock back? I realize my chances of getting a knock back are pretty high. I have been a subscriber with this MAG & others like it for 7 years also, so i have every edition published. I'm from Australia, not sure if that makes a difference?

Advice needed for freelance writing position!? I have been writing stories since I was young and have always loved it. I saw an ad in a local women's mag, and I really want to apply. Here's the ad: "If you love writing stories about and for women, we'd love to hear from you. Attention to detail and knowledge of AP style required. Please send resume, three writing clips and a cover letter." So I am just wondering what kinds of writing clips to send? How long should they be? I have many blogs, but do you suggest they be women related considering that's what the position calls for? Or just an example of how I write? I am not very familiar with AP style either, so any resources would be great! Someone suggested that I get the AP Stylebook, but I wasn't sure. I really would love to have this opportunity to freelance, but I am not really confident in what to do here! Thanks for your help. I have never had anything published, so nothing on my resume would be in relation to this. If I get turned down, no big deal. I just want to do this correctly.

How do I write a handwritten invoice for freelance writing work ? Is it a legal receipt for taxes ? Hi, I really am a full- time starving artist and freelance writer. Recently, I did a small writing project for a local company, but they want me to send an invoice in order to get paid. They said I could hand- write something out. Could I write something like this ? I,.......completed a small writing project for....Corp on 0/0/08. The agreed- upon payment by....Corp to.... is $100.00. Is that an acceptable invoice ? Also, for Income Tax purposes, is that okay ? Do I need a receipt, or just a copy of the check ? I hate to sound so naive, but I don't even live near any store that would sell invoices and I don't have a working computer printer or really have access to one. Thank you

How do I find higher paying jobs for freelance writing part-time? I've been freelance writing for about two months now. Yes I have done some research, and still there's still lots more to do. By testing the waters it seems as though the best start I know is to write for essay sites. Most of the review sites don't pay much money. I like Helium Knowledge, but it's slow. To me that site is where I can develop my skills and evaluate topics that people are interested in hearing. Currently I'm preparing writing samples and thinking about submitting my articles to article distribution sites. Are there any other steps that I could take to build up my portfolio and get paid as well? I've also heard about freelance work exchange, some people applaud the site, others say it's a waste of time. Any one else know about freelance work exchange?

I all ready visit Writersrow.Com on a daily basis for freelance writing job leads, which often leads me to Craigslist.Org postings, but I am wondering if anyone in the Yahoo! Answers community knows of other sites that I can visit that don't require I be a member or subscribe to a service to contact people. I also try looking at MySpace Classifieds, my local online classifieds, Monster.Com, etc, but I'm usually disappointed with my results. I am an established writer, especially for my age, and I want to be able to use that to my advantage. Any ideas?
