Would you leave a $135k/yr telecommuting job to start your own company?

1. Only if I was secure enough financially and had done my homework on what type of company I would start while weighing the pros and cons of starting a business and having realistic expectations of what the first few years would be like.
2. I would tell you it's a matter of personal choice. Starting a new business is always a risky gamble. I have had 3 good starts with business and 3 great failures. It may be a wise move to do some demographic studies to see if your product is top shelf.
3. If it is your passion then go for it, this chance only comes once in a life time. Make sure you have enough set aside before you do it. Most start ups do not even make money in there first year, but if you are feeling it and can afford it why not?
I left $78,000 per year free accommodations and a beautiful city to move back home and start my own business and I love it, I would totally do it again. The headaches I have now are my own and not because of some damn reports or deadlines that weren't met.
Very few people actually get out there and do what they LOVE.Many people just wait and wait and time goes by and you know what they have not done anything accept work for someone else their whole lives while others are prospering.
Remember to do your research and set your self APART frome everyone else. Make your product or service something to remember.
I have a friend that left corporate america with 2 children and a husband to start her own bath product company. She went into business 6 years ago and now she has people like Jay-Z, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Mary J.Blige backing her!
4. It depend what is the successful rate of setting up the new company. it also depend on what is your age now and family commitment as well as are you happy with the current employment.
if the above has more positive answer, then i will encourage you to head for it. but must bear in mind, once you step into it, don't ever regret and must do all your best and must tell yourself i can make it.
