Telecommuting from home, downloading and uploading, what's the fastest hookup I can get from home? Cable, Sat?
I will be telecommuting...I need to find a good cable or satellite hook-up for my house so I can upload and download files. They are basically the same files, except with metadata in them when I upload again. I'll be in NC but downloading from Miami and uploading to Gainesville. What is a good speed? I've looked around the internet but it doesn't quite explain what I'm looking for, can anyone help? Thank you

1. I don't have any experience with Cable, but I can tell you from experience, Satellite sucks!! My former employer had it and it was an expensive dissapointment.
I should have mentioned it was through Direct TV, and anytime you call for technical support you get transferred to India, and every call takes around an hour, making you go thru the same steps that you have already went thru the last 25 times you called, and got transferred to India. Huge waste of money!!
2. Upload speeds are always alot slower than download speeds.
The fastest broadband available will be via cable.
The actual download speed you receive is variable, and is determined by how fast the server your receiving from will serve it to you. So in actuallity the difference between DSL and Cable can be very small.
When you order your service from your provider, look at the different plans they have and ask what the specific download and upload rates are. You can usually pay more to have higher transfer rates.
